Who I Am
Having come from a family with nothing to our name, my family and I struggled during my youth. I was fortunate to receive a full scholarship to attend a private school to receive my high school diploma. In 1976 I was one of six among 300 candidates who passed the written and oral exams to enlist into the U.S. Navy at Subic Bay, Philippines which paved the way for me to help my family overcome poverty. I spent 26 years of active duty that took me to many countries around the world. At the young age of 49, I kept searching for clues and constantly asking God what He has in store for me for my remaining time on Mother Earth.
Then on my 60th birthday, I met my Teacher, Dr. & Master Zhi Gang Sha at a book signing event in Hawaii. When he spoke and said: “The purpose of life is to serve; I commit my life to this purpose. To serve is to make others happier, healthier, empowered and enlightened.” I knew that he has been God’s response to my prayers. Therefore, I follow in his footsteps by giving back through devoted service to my fellow military veterans in Hawaii. I volunteered many hours serving as: Mentor at Veterans Treatment Court at the First Circuit Court of Honolulu, Chairman of PTSD Committee for Vietnam Veterans of America Oahu Chapter, Honolulu’s Saint Francis Hospice Facility.
