Why Practice Gratitude?
“Gratitude means you acknowledge the state of divine grace. When you feel grateful, you are in the state of divine grace. What I am saying here is that you enter a state of divine grace, and in that state, what you are feeling is so very grateful for all that is given to you—your life, your children, your opportunity to be of service to others, your opportunity to hear precious spiritual teachings. These are only some of the reasons you feel grateful. You feel blessed in your life. And knowing how very special these blessings are, you feel grateful to God.
Gratitude is a most special emotion. Gratitude has a sweetness and a softness as it surrounds you and comes into your heart. Gratitude is so soft. It holds you tenderly. Tears may well up in your eyes. You may stop for a moment to gaze upon a flower or look more deeply into the sky. You feel touched. You feel connected to God.
Within this softness, this quality of love, there arises inside you a deep wave of appreciation of the many gifts placed before you. This is the wave of divine grace that builds inside you. As you feel it coming, you may bow down to say, “Thank you, dear God, for I understand more and more.”
In these moments when you directly feel this profound appreciation, you are in the divine grace of God, and you are being blessed. You are living in divine relationship with God.”
